ABOUT THE ENPARD INITIATIVE
IMPLEMENTATION

A think tank with representatives of all groups of actors working in favour of agriculture and rural development is set up in each of the countries participating in the ENPARD South initiative to promote the emergence of a participatory and inclusive national dialogue. This group of stakeholders aims to identify the key challenges and issues facing rural areas and agriculture in their countries, to determine needs and constraints faced by stakeholders and then establish proposals to policymakers that will help their respective governments in adopting a more balanced and sustainable agricultural and rural policies.

These think tanks, with the ENPARD South support programme team from CIHEAM-IAMM, regularly organise national workshops to discuss issues and challenges previously identified with the participation of stakeholders involved in rural and agricultural development of the countries.

The constitution of these think tanks and the national workshops on key agricultural and rural issues in the country are a prerequisite to the organisation of sub-regional and regional seminars aiming to promote exchanges in experience and sharing knowledge on cross-cutting issues and the major Mediterranean challenges (food security climate change, scarcity of resources, rural exodus and migration, youth and women in agriculture and rural areas…). Through these exchanges and debates, the idea is to promote the emergence of a collective reflection and a forum to discuss and network the agricultural and rural territories stakeholders to ensure a better coordination of national agricultural and rural policies.
